What is HC-50T?
The hybrid 50t is a composite sheet that merges 60t pitch carbon with 40t pan carbon.
The 60t pitch type, derived from coal and tar, possesses a robust ability to regain its original shape but lacks strength and is challenging to bend. These fibers, however, may break under a certain amount of stress. On the other hand, the 40t pan type, made of acrylic, is flexible and almost resistant to breaking but doesn’t immediately return to its original shape once the load is removed. The Hybrid 50t is crafted by combining these two carbon types, leveraging their respective strengths.
How is HC-50T is used for the shaft?
Normal Shafts
In conventional shafts, strength is typically maintained through a 10-layer construction. However, this approach tends to increase overall weight. To address this, HC-50T, featuring a 50t pitch, is layered with 24t pitch materials. This combination allows for the retention of both strength and a lighter overall weight.
When Using HC-50T
By integrating HC-50T into one of the 10 layers of the carbon sheet, the total layer count is reduced to 9, resulting in a successful weight reduction of 7-9g!
